Simple Callsheet Manager, or SCM for short, is a web application developed by WebrMedia. It is an online sales collaboration tool that allows multiple sales teams to organize and share information to boost overall productivity.

An administrator can create multiple sales teams, each with multiple members (sales executives). Then, the following types of data records can be manipulated using SCM:

  • Company: The client company where a sales effort/campaign is concentrated. A company is either an existing or a potential customer.
  • People (or Person): Client company representative(s) with whom the actual sales negotiation is on-going. The relationship enforced here is that a person can belong to only one company.
  • Callsheet Thread: A thread is a logical holder for a list of callsheets tracking any particular sales campaign. Previous conversations are maintained individually as callsheets. Threads are exclusive to sales team members only. Other team members can only view threads but will not be able to modify it.
  • Callsheet: Record of a particular meeting, email or phone call with a company or person that is ordered chronologically by time. This again is maintained exclusively per sales team member. Members may only modify their own callsheet, not someone else's. The relationship enforced here is that a callsheet can belong to only one thread.
  • Worksheet: Reminders of follow up meetings, emails or phone calls associated with a particular thread. Or user added worksheet reminder, a sort of to-do list which also tracks goal completion on a simple 0-100% scale.

Installing SCM

While we're fervently working on our unified web app installer to make all our products install quickly on target servers, as of now, the SCM will need to be manually installed. We have this checklist for you to go through to install SCM on your server:

  1. Copy the downloaded archive to a directory on your server and expand its contents. For this checklist, we will assume that your server is reachable at http://yourserver and that you have installed SCM in the root of your server. This will create a new directory called 'scm'.
  2. Go to http://yourserver/phpmyadmin in your browser to create a new MySQL database called 'scm'. If you do not have phpMyAdmin installed, you will need to run the following SQL command as a user who has CREATE priviliges.

    CREATE DATABASE `scm`;

  3. Once created, you will need to import the SCM schema into your new database. If you're using phpMyAdmin, click on the "import" tab and load the scm.sql file that was downloaded as part of the complete SCM archive. Click on 'Go'. Make sure that there are no errors during this step. You can delete the SQL file after this step. If you're not using phpMyAdmin, run the following MySQL command to import the database schema:

    mysql -u username -p scm < /path/to/scm.sql

  4. Next, run the following SQL statement on the 'scm' database. If you're using phpMyAdmin, click on "SQL" tab on the top of the screen to get to the SQL execution page:

    GRANT ALL ON `scm`.* TO `scm`@`yourserver` IDENTIFIED BY 'password';

  5. Open /scm/app/config/database.php in a text editor and change the database configuration settings (line 81) to reflect your MySQL server settings:

    var $default = array(
    	'driver' => 'mysql',
    	'persistent' => false,
    	'host' => 'yourserver',
    	'login' => 'scm',
    	'password' => 'password',
    	'database' => 'scm',
    	'prefix' => '',
    );
  6. Finally, go to http://yourserver/scm and you should see a login page. Enter "admin" and "admin" into the username, password credentials to log onto the system as administrator.

Please note that SCM is offered as freeware, without any warranties. Please read the accompanying LICENSE.txt file before installing the software. If you run into problems during this installation or when you're using SCM, shoot us an email, we can work out your issues for a small fee. If you have an in-house development team, they can modify the source code as they wish. We hope you find the Simple Callsheet Manager a useful little tool to have around.
